Kobo Town’s ‘Jumbie in the Jukebox’ available for pre-order on iTunes
by Cesco Emmanuel
Officially, we will release our second album to the general public on April 23rd.
There! I said it – our second album, it’s taken a while for us to get here, but it is so worth it.
‘Jumbie in the Jukebox’ (Cumbancha Records) is Kobo Town’s follow-up to 2006’s ‘Independence’.
For this album, we worked with the great World Music producer – Ivan Duran. The album was recorded all over the place – Canada, Belize, Trinidad. We recorded my guitar parts in my bedroom in St. James. It was the coolest thing, to be working on such an informal level. No fancy studio – my bedroom, that was it.
This album is much more raw, and dark, it is gritty and nasty, it sounds like we took the oldest instruments to make this record, which in many ways, we did. We’ve grown as a band. Drew’s songwriting has gotten even better than what it was before.
I’m proud to be a part of this record.
If you’d like to pick up a copy, you can pre-order here on iTunes.
This is something I’ve waited, maybe all of us in the band have waited a long while for, new music to give to you – the listener.
Hope you enjoy it. Here’s our work over the last seven years.
Now, the planning of our summer tour begins.
Coming to a city near you, is Kobo Town.
